I understand that whether it is your first or hundredth time walking into therapy, opening up and sharing your story can be a difficult thing to do. I have found that a trusting relationship is at the core of being able to do the hard work in a therapy setting. I enjoy working to build that relationship with clients from the get go. Marsha Linehan, creator of DBT, identified an assumption about individuals that has always influenced my work with others: "all people are, at any given point in time, doing the best they can.” I believe that everyone walking into my office has been doing the best they can under whatever life circumstances may have brought you here, and that you are also ready to do something different. I will work in session to meet my clients where they're at and challenge you in a supportive way to work collectively towards change.
I have experience and special interest in working with individuals 15+ struggling with:
Personality Disorders
Life transitions & stressors
Trauma history
Interpersonal conflict
My current background includes training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
When I'm not in the office you can usually find me with my family or friends playing any kind of board game or cards, hiking in the woods, camping, fishing, traveling, or cheering on the Vikings or Wild!
