My hope in working together is to support you in finding neutrality and kindness with food and your body.
Partnering together may look different from any expectation you have about a dietitian. After all, diet is in the title! I am a non-diet dietitian, meaning I support people in first unlearning what media and culture has taught us about food, bodies, and ourselves. I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and have worked in the Medical Nutrition Therapy setting [inpatient and outpatient], as well as in an Eating Disorder Treatment Center for several years.
Our first session will include getting to know you and your story, experiences, and what you hope to get out of working together. I won’t be handing you a pre-set plan, a list of what to eat or not eat, or any other one-size-fits-all approach. I hope to support you in making sustainable shifts that take your unique needs into account. My goal is to support you in the most individualized way possible as you work toward a more balanced approach with food experiences. Dedication to yourself to implement small, measurable changes over time, and trusting the process are key ingredients to finding your true, authentic preferences. It is possible for food and eating to be free of intense preoccupation, shame, fear, or anxiety!
What fills my cup is reading a great book on the porch [or sun streaming into the home during the chilly MN months!] with something comforting to drink, being outside with my husband, son, and dog Shelby, a yoga class or any form of movement, and trying new food or old classics around town!
