Welcome! My name is Olivia Fesser (she/her/hers and they/them/theirs) and I am glad you’ve made it to my page to explore getting started with or continuing your therapeutic journey. I have a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and am currently under supervision while working towards my licensure.
Navigating life’s challenges is a complex task. Whether it is in relationships or mental health, we are always navigating the many layers of our human experience. You shouldn’t have to be alone on this journey! As your therapist, I will remain curious with you as we uncover the narratives that you have been holding on to throughout your life so we can discover areas for growth and change. Establishing trust and understanding is my first priority in our work together to ensure that your sessions are a safe place to explore your life's unique complexities. I believe that engaging in a therapeutic relationship has the potential to be healing in itself as it can be symbolic of allowing yourself to slow down and take up space.
I provide an approach to therapy that is collaborative, transparent, person-centered and non-judgmental. It is important to me that all of my clients feel safe to share their unique life experiences and that they feel seen and heard when they do so. With my bachelor’s degree in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and as a systemically trained therapist, I maintain awareness of the fact that all aspects of our human identities intersect with the world around us. I firmly believe that you are the expert on your lived experience and that you are not defined by your life’s challenges.
I have experience in and a passion for working with couples, families, and individuals between the ages of 13-60+ years old that are seeking support with:
Anger
Divorce and Custody Distress
Gender Identity
Life Transitions
Low Self-Esteem
LGBTQ+ Youth
Spirituality
I utilize a narrative therapy approach while tying in elements of attachment theory and solution-focused therapy techniques. I am eager to start this therapeutic journey with you and/or your family with the intention of supporting you as you continue to discover the shifts and the tools that serve you best in this life.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, cooking, swimming, hot yoga, reality television, and listening to (loud) music.
