Sexuality Education for Adults with
Developmental Disabilities
(group led by Bailey Peterson LMFT)
People with developmental disabilities are sometimes left out of the conversation when it comes to sexuality. This is a disservice to their thoughts, feelings, and needs. People with developmental disabilities are sexual beings and need the information and skills to help make healthy decisions about sexuality. Katherine McLaughlin, M.Ed developed an important curriculum that recognizes this and the right of everyone to access adequate sex education and information. This 15-week therapy group will cover various topics from a sex-positive framework utilizing aspects of this curriculum and years of experience brought by the facilitator. Adults (18+) and all gender identities, sexual orientations, and gender expressions are welcome!
Topics that will be covered:
Different Types of Relationships
Public and Private
Friendship
Communication & Decision Making
Moving from Friends to Partners
